The OPI5000 has been developed to meet the soldering temperature requirements of Lead Free processes whilst retaining IECEx certification requirements..Using 'true' SM components the OPI5000 has several advantages over our long established OPI1000LX series,improved footprint position,improved coplanarity of the leads.The datasheet is available under the Opto Coupler section of this web site.
Dispite the advantages this device offers we have failed to generate sufficient business to justify going to the next stage of retooling and applying for certification.We would appreciate comments from any potential users of surface mount ATEX/IECEx certified couplers as to possible changes we might make to generate demand.Like for like volumes of this part and our existing OPI1000L series show a potential cost saving of some 15%--worth looking at.If you would like samples to try please ask.

In the next few weeks we will be bringing together all the components required to build a second series of our high speed couplers,OPI2000/M/MTH.The packages will be compatible but use different components offering the opportunity for some cost reduction.

We are investigating the development of a 1MHz linear Opto Coupler that would be IECEx certifiable.To justify the high cost of development we are searching the market for potentail usage.If such a product would be of interest to you we would like to hear from you with potentail usage.price targets,time scales and any design constraints.
