ATEX - Standards and Harmonised Status
Bedford Opto Technology Ltd. are very much aware of the harmonisation and deharmonisation of the standards used in the design and manufacture of it's ATEX Opto-Isolators. We decided at a very early stage to include our designated Notified Body to ensure our Opto-Isolators fulfilled the requirements of the standards applicable to it's product.
In October 2007 we received Supplementary EC-Type Examination Certificates:- BAS01ATEX1278U/2 that relates to - OPI110 Series OPI1264 Series OPI1000L Series BAS01ATEX1285U/3 that relates to - OPI2000M / OPI2000MTH These confirm the re-examination of our Opto-Isolators and their compliance in all respects with:- EN60079-0:2006 EN61241-0:2006 EN60079-11:2007 EN61241-11:2006 EN60079-26:2004

ATEX - ATmospheres EXplosibles - Directive 94/9/EC
BOT hold a Quality Assurance Notification from Baseefa Ltd and manufacture ATEX certified product and EC-Type Examination Certificates for the 10KV Opto-Coupler ranges and it's High Speed Opto-Isolator.

| Legislative Marks and Markings
- Ex = Distinctive European Community Mark
- II = Indicates non-mining (Group II)
- G = Indicates a product suitable for use in an explosive atmosphere comprising a mixture of gas, vapour or mist with air.
- D = Indicates a product suitable for use in an explosive atmosphere comprising a mixture of flammable dust with air.
Informative Markings
- EEx = 'Ex' is the internationally accepted symbol of explosion protection. The 'E' prefix indicates that European standards are used.
- ia = Each explosion protection concept is given a different lower case letter signifying compliance with the relevant European or International standard.
- IIC = For use with a small number of gasses which require very little spark energy to ignite them.
